Big Orange Trash Bash

  • The Big Orange Trash Bash, a community wide roadside litter cleanup and awareness campaign, netted 450 bags of trash from 490 volunteers. Sponsored by the Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority, The Daily Times and Keep Blount Beautiful, orange trash bags were arranged as a "Power T" on the lawn of McGhee Tyson Airport by members of the airport staff, Keep Blount Beautiful staff and a litter crew from the Blount County Sheriff's Office and the Justice Center. The sheriff's office, Blount County Highway Department, City of Alcoa Public Works and the City of Maryville Public Works partnered in the project.

Trinity Dental Clinic

  • Trinity Dental Clinic, a community partner of United Way of Blount County, thrives with the help of about 80 volunteers a year. With only three paid staff members, and with the volunteers help, the clinic provides reduced-cost urgent dental care to low-income residents of Blount County. The clinic has already had around 1,600 patient visits and performed over 1,800 extractions so far this year alone.
